The waste classified as Class I (Hazardous), is that which presents some type of hazard, which can present at least one of the characteristics such as flammability, toxicity and corrosivity, among several other characteristics that can cause damage to the environment and public health .
Class II (non-hazardous) includes waste that does not have hazardous characteristics and is subdivided into two categories.
* Class II A (not inert): This subdivision includes residues that, in general, do not have the hazardous aspects, but may present characteristics of combustion, biodegradability and solubility in water;
*Class II B (inert): those that do not have characteristics to be classified either as Class I (Dangerous) or as Class II A (non-inert). Included in this classification are those residues that, when subjected to solubilization tests, did not present any of their constituents solubilization in concentrations higher than the water potability standards. That is, the water remains potable even in contact with this waste.
Some examples of waste considered hazardous are solvents, oily sludge, paints, conduits, contaminated PPE, sand mixed with oil and water, waste from decanting box, among many others.
Correct disposal of waste
