The structure of the roller chain
The roller chain is mainly composed of five parts: inner chain plate, outer chain plate, pin shaft, sleeve and roller.
The outer chain plate and the pin shaft, the inner chain plate and the sleeve are respectively connected by an interference fit. There is a clearance fit between the sleeve and the pin, and the sleeve and the roller. When the sprocket and the chain are engaged, the friction between the roller and the gear is basically rolling friction. There is sliding friction between the sleeve and the roller, and between the pin and the sleeve.
Roller chain chain plates are generally made into a figure of eight, so that the strength of each section is close, and the inertia and weight during exercise are reduced.
Compared with belt transmission, roller chain transmission has the advantages of compact structure, small load acting on the shaft, larger carrying capacity, higher efficiency, and the ability to maintain an accurate average transmission ratio.
